Terms of use
Using what is on this site
The guides, tools, standards and documents on edge151.com are free. These terms say what you may do with them, what they can and cannot tell you, and where the responsibility sits once you use them.
Last updated 16 October 2026.
1. These terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses edge151.com, including the Edge151 Institute pages, and to anything you download from it, wherever you received the download. By using the site, its tools or its downloads you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use them.
Edge151, referred to here as we or us, is based in Jersey. The Edge151 Institute is part of Edge151. You can reach us using the details in section 12.
2. Who owns the material
We own the copyright and other rights in the guides, tools, standards and documents on this site, and in the Edge151 and Edge151 Institute names and logos. What follows is a permission to use them, which we give freely. It does not transfer ownership.
3. What you may do with the free material
For the reference documents, templates and guides you may:
- read, print, copy and use them within your own organisation;
- adapt them, and use your adapted versions as your own internal documents;
- use them, adapted or not, when working with clients, including in paid consulting, training or support you deliver yourself;
- share the originals, unchanged and free of charge, provided the notes in them stay intact.
You may not:
- sell the material, or charge for access to it, whether as it stands, adapted, or as the main content of a template pack, course, software product or similar;
- present an adapted version as published, approved or endorsed by Edge151 or the Edge151 Institute;
- remove the notes that say a document is provided as is and is not advice, unless you replace them with wording of your own that does the same job;
- use our names or logos in a way that suggests a connection with us.
You do not need to credit us, though a link back is welcome. Articles, the book material and everything else on the site may be quoted with a link back to the page. If you want to do something these terms do not cover, ask us first.
4. What results and documents do not establish
A score, a reading, a completed template, a completed checklist or a claim to work to one of our standards is a self-assessment and nothing more. It does not establish that an organisation complies with any law or regulation, that its use of AI is safe or suitable, that a tool or system is ready to deploy, or that any person holds a qualification.
An organisation may say that it works to the AI Capability Standard and describe what it has in place. It may not say or imply that Edge151, the Edge151 Institute or anyone else has assessed, approved, certified or recognised it. No award, register, badge or verification sits behind any of our standards. The AI Capability Standard sets this out in its section 6.4.
5. Information, not advice
Everything on this site is general information. It is not legal, financial, data protection, employment, security or other professional advice, and it does not take account of your circumstances. Laws, tools and good practice change, and what is here may fall out of date. Check anything you rely on against your own contracts, policies and the law that applies to you, and take professional advice where you need it.
6. No warranty
The site, its tools and its downloads are provided free and as they are. We make no promise that they are complete, accurate, up to date, suitable for any purpose, or free of errors, viruses or other harmful code, and we do not promise that the site will always be available. Check downloaded files with your own security software before you open them.
7. Our responsibility to you
Because the material is free and general, and because we cannot know how it will be used, we exclude responsibility for loss as far as the law allows. To that extent, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, its tools or its downloads, or from relying on them, whether the claim is in contract, in negligence or otherwise. That includes loss of data, profit, business, contracts or opportunity, any effect on your systems, and any indirect or consequential loss.
If any part of that exclusion does not apply, our total liability to you for all claims arising from the site, its tools and its downloads is limited to one hundred pounds sterling.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
8. The online tools and your information
The Readiness Scorecard and the Organisation Evidence Check work entirely in your browser. The answers you give in them are not sent to us and are not stored, and they are gone when you leave the page. The Datum Quick Grade keeps your grades in your own browser’s storage so you can come back to them; they stay on your device and you can clear them at any time.
The pages that hold these tools are ordinary web pages. Like the rest of the site, they use cookies and analytics, with your consent where it is needed, to record visits and how the site is used. That is separate from your answers, and it is described in the privacy notice. Where a page offers a form, such as a sign-up for occasional notes, what you send is handled as the privacy notice describes.
9. Links to other sites
Where we link to another site, we do so because it may be useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they contain.
10. Changes
We may change these terms, and the material on the site, at any time. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed, and the version in force when you use the site is the one that applies. The standards keep their own version history, described in how the Institute works.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Jersey, and the courts of Jersey have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms, and requests for permission to use the material in ways section 3 does not cover, go to hello@edge151.com or through the contact page.
